Top marks for Students’ Union

19/09/2012

The University of Wolverhampton Students’ Union is celebrating after receiving recognition for being an excellent employer.

The Students’ Union has secured the Investors in People (IIP) Bronze Standard, which recognises quality employers.

The UWSU had to meet 65 requirements to achieve the award. The organisation had to demonstrate the manner in which it offered its staff the opportunities to further themselves and increase their personal competencies while working within the organisation.

President of the UWSU, Dan Batchelor, said: “This award shows the dedication of the Union to improving the skills and knowledge of our staff team. This certainly demonstrates the on-going thought and planning that the organisation puts into its working practices. I feel that this award highlights the way in which all our staff are valued and the efforts we make to further both ourselves and the contribution we are able to make in enhancing the overall student experience."

In the final report, the IIP assessor said: “The Standard is a very challenging one to meet and is increasingly seen as a measure of a quality employer. The success is an acknowledgement of the effort of everyone who works for the organisation. "

This recognition is the latest for the Students’ Union, which recently won Most Improved Students Union at the National Union of Students (NUS) Green Impact Awards, after achieving the Silver Green Impact Standard for its environmental actions.
