Lecture looks at the impact of cuts on emergency services

The impact of Government cuts on the emergency services will be the focus of a public lecture at the University of Wolverhampton.

Leading expert on industrial relations, Professor Roger Seifert from the , will present his inaugural public lecture on Thursday, 8 November 2012.

The free lecture, titled the political economy of state-run emergency services: the case of police, fire and ambulance, will be held in the Exhibition Room at the University of Wolverhampton Science Park from 6.30pm for a 7pm start.

Dr Anthea Gregory, Dean of the Univer‌sity of Wolverhampton Business School, said: “This will be a great opportunity for people to hear the latest thinking from one of the leading experts on what is a critical issue for the emergency services. I am sure Roger’s lecture will stimulate real debate.

Roger Seifert is professor of Human Resource Management at the University of Wolverhampton Business School and is a leading expert on industrial relations in the UK.

His current research is looking at the impact of government cuts on the police, fire and ambulance services and also union responses to public sector reform.

Roger appears regularly as a commentator on industrial relations on BBC national and local radio news, Sky News and the Politics Show.
