Dedicated lecturers celebrated

Students at the University of Wolverhampton have recognised excellence in teaching and the dedication of staff at an awards ceremony.

Over 250 staff and students attended the first ever University of Wolverhampton Students’ Union Teaching Awards, held at the Molineux Stadium.

A total of 11 Students’ Union Teaching Awards were handed out by the Students’ Union Executive Officers and special guest Reni Eddo – Lodge from the National Union of Students (NUS), to popular staff members who were nominated by students and then shortlisted by a panel of student judges.

A wide variety of staff members won awards for their above and beyond work and support for students.

The award winners were:

Academic Resource Recognition Award - Anthony Hatfield.

Dissertation/Project Supervisor Award - Dr Niall Galbraith.

Module Team Proficiency Award - Nabeil Maflahi.

Inspirational Award - James Ennis.

Support Staff Award- David Wedge.

Post Graduate Research Supervisor Award - Dr Ben Colbert.

Friendly Face Award - Christine Jolly. Motivation - David Henley.

Pastoral Care Award - David Wolf Rose.

Academic Vice President Award for Excellence - Catherine Lamond.

DVC Award - Belinda Bowd

The ceremony also included the Students’ Union Volunteer Awards – The Vollies.

Ken Harris, President of the Students’ Union, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the response to our student-led awards. We received over 230 nominations and it was great to see so many of the nominees at the event. We had an amazing evening and hope this will be the first of many successful Students’ Union Teaching Awards.”

The lucky winners won a hand crafted glass trophy designed by Elliot Walker, an arts student at the University of Wolverhampton as well as a certificate and a Kindle.
