Volunteers to receive recognition

22/02/2012

Dedicated students who volunteer their time alongside their studies will be recognised at an awards ceremony.

Nominations have now opened for the annual University of Wolverhampton Volunteer of the Year Award.

The award, sponsored by The Midcounties Cooperative, recognises students who have made a significant and meaningful contribution to the community by volunteering.

Lynn Banks, from Active Volunteers, said: “Our students give up their time to support their communities in a diverse range of areas, including working with children and elderly people and media and the arts, disability and health, the environment and education.

“Our annual Volunteer of the Year Award enables us to recognise their commitment and celebrate their achievements. Volunteering has the added benefit of significantly enhancing careers prospects.”

To be eligible to apply or be nominated for this award, students must have registered for the Volunteering Certificate and have completed a minimum of 50 hours volunteering.

The closing date to submit nominations is Friday 30 March 2012 and the awards ceremony will take place in May.
