New Dean appointed

The University of Wolverhampton has appointed a new Dean of its School of Technology.

Professor Nduka Ekere is currently the Dean of the School of Engineering Professor Nduka Ekereand Professor of Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Greenwich.

He will join Wolverhampton at the end of July following the retirement of the current Dean, Professor Robert Moreton.

Professor Ekere said: “I am very excited by this opportunity to lead the School of Technology in a university with such a rich history, an international reach and a distinctive mission of providing access to higher education. I look forward to working with colleagues within the School and with other stakeholders to ensure that the School of Technology enjoys the profile and reputation it deserves.”

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Geoff Layer, said: “We are delighted to have appointed Professor Ekere to lead our School of Technology. He brings with him a strong research and teaching record which will enable us to build on the current success of the School under the leadership of Professor Robert Moreton.”

Professor Nduka Ekere joined the University of Greenwich as Dean of the School of Engineering in 2002. Prior to this he was Associate Head and Director of Research at the School of Aeronautical, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Salford.

He has a PhD in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology/UMIST and an MSc in Flexible Manufacturing Systems and Robotics from the University of Technology in Loughborough. He completed his BEng (Honours) degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nigeria.

Professor Ekere’s research interests are in the modelling of manufacturing processes and systems, with specific emphasis on the Electronics Manufacturing and Assembly, and the Processing of soft solids.

He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET), and a Member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE).
