08/09/2011

Welcome Week for University of Wolverhampton students runs from Sunday 11 September until Sunday 18 September 2011 and activities will be held at the Wolverhampton and Walsall Campuses.

The Freshers’ Welcome Party will take place at the Students’ Union and Oceana nightclub in Wolverhampton on Sunday 11 September 2011, with free buses from the Walsall Campus.

Students will be able to pick up freebies and find out about special offers at the Freshers’ Fayre on Tuesday, 13 September 2011 from 11am until 3pm in the Students’ Union and main courtyard at the City Campus.

Other events include a comedy night, quiz night, an open mic night, a ‘get involved day’ to enable people to find out about volunteering and other activities and a trip to Alton Towers.

Those with an interest in sport will be able to try their hands at everything from netball to rugby and from aikido to ultimate Frisbee at sports taster sessions at Walsall and City Campus.

Students’ Union President Ken Harris said: “There is so much on offer for new and returning students at the Students’ Union. Our aim is to ensure their experience of University life is a happy one and runs smoothly over the coming years.

“People can take up a sport, join or create a society, write for the student publication and become a rep for their course. There are also outstanding opportunities for our students to help them prepare themselves for the competitive job market through the student rep system and volunteering scheme.”
