Honour for Vice-Chancellor’s book

09/06/2011

Beyond Testing by Professor Caroline Gipps has been chosen for the prestigious Routledge Education Special Editions series.

The titles selected for inclusion continue to be recommended reading in the subject area and have achieved excellent sales.

First published in 1994, Beyond Testing focuses on educational assessment and brings together developments in assessment to further understanding and practice.

Professor Gipps said: “I am delighted that my book has received this recognition and is to be re-printed. Education has changed considerably in the 17 years since the book was first printed, and I am honoured that Routledge has recognised the continued importance of the text for those involved in studying and practising educational assessment.”

The Routledge Education Special Editions series aims to celebrate Routledge’s heritage and commitment to excellent scholarship, teaching and learning. Written by experts, the titles chosen for inclusion are recognised as timeless classics in their field.

The aim of relaunching the titles in the new collection is to bring important books to the attention of a new generation of education students, professionals and academics.

Professor Caroline Gipps has been Vice-Chancellor at the University of Wolverhampton for six years.

She joined Wolverhampton from Kingston University in Surrey where she was Deputy Vice-Chancellor and prior to that was Professor of Education and Dean of Research at the Institute of Education in London. She has a distinguished track record in higher education and is an expert on educational assessment and learning. Beyond Testing has also been translated into Japanese.

Professor Gipps is set to retire from the University this Summer.
