New conference facilities set for launch

Businesses, training and event groups, councils and other organisations are being invited to look around the new facilities on Tuesday, 1 March 2011.

The University is adding to its existing conference facilities at the campus by launching nine modern conference rooms, which have been completely refurbished and equipped. These include an IT Suite, a relaxed conference guest lounge and a spacious exhibition and event catering area.

The event at the Telford Campus from 12pm until 2pm will take place in the SC Building Conference Centre.

The launch will include a welcome from Pro Vice-Chancellor Research and Enterprise, Professor Ian Oakes, as well as a presentation about the facilities.

Guests will be taken on bespoke tours of the new conference suite in the SC Building, plus existing facilities in Priorslee Hall. There will be an opportunity to look around the business incubation units in the e-Innovation Centre (e-IC) and the non-student campus en-suite accommodation.

Suzie Mellors, Meetings and Events Co-ordinator, Conference Department, said: “We are really excited and enthusiastic to be launching these new conference rooms at the Telford Campus which are a welcome addition to our existing facilities. We also have hundreds of en-suite conference bedrooms so we can organise a wide range of events. We welcome people to come and have a look around.”

There will also be a complimentary lunch and exhibitions by local businesses, networking groups and other organisations.
