Student achievement recognised

21/05/2010

The University will be hosting its Employment and Volunteering Awards ceremony on Wednesday, 26 May 2010 from 11am to 1pm.

Last year the University hosted its first Volunteer of the Year Award and the scheme was such a success that it has expanded the categories.

Awards will be presented to the Student Volunteer of the Year and the Student Employee of the Year at the ceremony at Wolverhampton City Campus.

Other awards include:

  • Speed WM Entrepreneur of the Year 2010
  • Innovation Award 2010
  • Student Leadership Award
  • International Student Employee of the Year
  • On-Campus Student Employee of the Year
  • International Graduate Placement Scheme award

Helene Turley, Employment Engagement Manager, said: “I am delighted to be associated with the Employment and Volunteering Awards. The students’ devotion and support to their respective organisations has not gone un-noticed. I would like to thank Enterprise PLC and Midcounties Co-operative who have sponsored several of the winners awards. It will be an excellent day designed to celebrate the students achievements.”

The ceremony will be attended by a wide audience including students, graduates, voluntary organisations, employers, sponsors and some of our international partners.

Some of the organisations that will be attending include Volunteering England, The Hague University in the Netherlands, Metro/National Express, Mouchel, Homeserve, Our lady and St. Chad’s Catholic Sport’s College, Childline, NSPCC, Victim Support and Sandwell Mind.

Last year’s Volunteer of the Year was presented to Jodie McCaughan, who volunteered at Sandwell Advocacy.
