Log on to Clearing clinic

16/08/2010

From today, Monday, 16 August 2010, students will be able to log on to chat to experts about the Clearing process and receive advice about the availability of courses.

Last year, the University ran a successful web chat from midnight on the day students received their A-Level results, but this is the first year students have been able to log on for help and advice beforehand.

In addition, 65 members of staff will be manning the phones from 7am on A-level results day, Thursday, 19 August 2010.

The University has received 355 extra places from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) for 2010 entry, in subjects including Computing, Engineering, Design, Dance, Drama and Music. Students interested in applying for these courses are encouraged to call the Clearing hotline number, 0800 953 3222.*

Academic Registrar, Paul Travill, said: “We know that Clearing is a difficult and confusing time for a lot of applicants, and as ever we've a team of staff ready to help and explain the options available depending on your qualifications.

“The most important thing is to contact us as soon as possible, places are limited this year.”

Students can also come along to the University’s Open Day on Saturday, 21 August 2010 to meet lecturers and current students, tour the facilities and talk through their options with expert advisors. The open day will take place at Wolverhampton City and Walsall Campuses from 10am until 3pm.

Full details of the dates and times of the University’s Clearing activities are available at www.wlv.ac.uk/clearing
