EU official visits University

03/11/2009

Lecturers from the University of Wolverhampton Business School (UWBS) have been working closely with the body responsible for border management standards across Europe, Frontex, on a common curriculum for border police and managers.

Magda Boughnerova, from Frontex, visited the University for three days, and held meetings with the Dean, Professor Dominic Wilson, the Executive team of UWBS and policing expert Professor Peter Waddington. Magda has been working with a team of UWBS staff since January on the development of a degree and masters programme for border managers.

Janet Firth, Head of the Human Resources department, said: “Magda’s visit is significant as it means we will have further involvement in the development of this exciting European programme, and hope it will lead to Academy status for the University.

“We have been working with the 27 EU member states for the past 12 months to develop a common curriculum. It has been hard work but we are now seeing the rewards.”
