National award for Nalini

Nalini Patel receiving her awardNalini Patel won the national IT Service and Support Person of the Year Award. She was up against tough competition from the public and private sectors including IPC Media, BBC, Siemens and the NHS.

Nalini is a member of the Service Desk team and was delighted when she reached the final stage in the Service Desk Institute (SDI) Service Desk and IT Support Excellence Awards.

Candidates had to demonstrate how they made an exceptional and outstanding contribution to the success of the IT Service Team. Each submission was judged against 10 criteria including leadership, customer satisfaction and processes. As one of the final three, Nalini also had to give a presentation to the panel of judges and answer questions at the SDI headquarters in Kent.

Nalini said “I feel proud and honoured to have received this award. This recognition for all the hard work and commitment would not have been possible without the support from all my colleagues on the Service Desk and IT Services. I look forward to my team's continued success.”

Nici Cooper the Information, Advice and Staff Development Manager, said: “Nalini is our longest serving member of Service Desk staff, she has been with the Service Desk since it was launched in 2000 and has played an integral part in making it the success it is now.

“She is currently acting up into the Senior Service Desk Advisor role, providing valuable support to the rest of the team. We are thrilled and very proud that Nalini’s skills, professionalism and dedication have been recognised by her industry peers.”

The results were announced at the SDI Annual Conference Awards Dinner on June 9 at the Grand Hotel, Brighton.
