Top endorsement for sports course

12/02/2009

The BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science has been officially endorsed by The British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES).

The BASES Undergraduate Endorsement Scheme (BUES) aims to ensure the appropriateness of the curriculum, resources and opportunities that undergraduate courses offer for training sport and exercise scientists.

It awards endorsement to sport and exercise science related courses that provide undergraduates with the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills that BASES considers essential for a career in the profession. This can include supervised experience, work in elite sport, or in a health environment.

Adam Hawkey, Course Leader for BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science, submitted the application on behalf of the Department of Sports Studies. He said: “We are delighted to receive this endorsement. This will benefit our students as it shows their programme of study and the experience they receive fulfils the criteria set out by BASES.”

The course will be endorsed from January 2009 until January 2014.
