Law Society of England and Wales President to visit University

31/10/2008

Paul Marsh will visit the School of Legal Studies on Tuesday, 18 November 2008. He will give a lecture entitled ‘Law as a Business’ to staff and postgraduate students. All solicitors and trainee solicitors in the Black Country, Shropshire and Southern Staffordshire have also been invited to the event, in addition to members of the School’s Lex21 initiative.

Paul Marsh was appointed as the President of the Law Society of England and Wales in July 2008. His lecture will be followed by a presentation from Ian Cooper, a leading Business Development Consultant, titled ‘Turning your enquiries to business – the missing link’.

Dean of the School of Legal Studies, Brian Mitchell, said: “It is a great honour that the President of The Law Society of England and Wales should visit the University so soon after his appointment. This highlights the continued success of the Lex21 initiative, and extends the University's strong links with local solicitors to those entrusted with the leadership of the profession throughout England and Wales.”

Lex21 is a new initiative which aims to put the School of Legal Studies at the heart of regional legal practices through networking, training, research and recruitment.
