Success for new researchers

07/05/2008

The Graduate School’s annual poster competition and exhibition aims to showcase the variety and depth of research conducted at the University.

Five researchers were named as winners and will go on to represent the University at the UK Grad Midlands Hub Poster Competition at Keele University on Friday, July 4 2008.

The winners were Donna Brown (School of Applied Sciences), Harpreet Dibra (School of Applied Sciences), Dang Cong Zheng (School of Engineering and the Built Environment), Rasiah Kugan (School of Engineering and the Built Environment) and Jeff Russell (School of Sport, Performing Arts and Leisure).

Dr Jonathan Phillips, Associate Dean in the Graduate School, said: "This year we had around 35 entries, representing virtually all research areas in the University, and it was particularly difficult to select the winning posters as the standard of entries was very high. Our research students have excelled themselves in producing a range of excellent posters that showcase their research in an accessible way.

“The UK Grad Midlands Hub Poster Competition is a highly prestigious event showcasing the best research student posters from universities across the Midlands region and we are delighted to be taking such a strong selection of posters.”
