Course success for Dan

18/06/2008

Dan Wilkinson is currently studying a Foundation Degree in Business Management run by the University of Wolverhampton in conjunction with Telford College of Arts and Technology.

Dan, 22, returned to College after deciding he needed more qualifications to be able to run his own business designing websites.

He was one of the first students to do the course, and he is now working with lecturers to recruit a second cohort of budding businessmen and women to start in September. The course covers competition, e-business and technologies, marketing, finance and human resources.

Dan has enjoyed learning the different disciplines of business and liked the fact it covered a range of areas. He was also able to fit the course around other commitments, including a part time job, as it is held two days a week.

During the first year of the Foundation Degree, the students study at Telford College of Arts and Technology, but go onto the University’s Telford campus for their second year. There is also an opportunity to “top up” to a bachelors degree with the University of Wolverhampton Business School, which Dan also hopes to do.

Course leader at the University, Richard Williams, said: “We are really pleased with how the partnership between the University and College has gone so far – it is a real local success story. Now we are keen to hear from anyone who would like to find out more about the foundation degree.”

There will be two information and enrolment evenings at Telford College, where prospective students can get more information and talk to tutors. These will be taking place on Tuesday June 24 and Wednesday June 25 from 5pm to 8pm.
