Training and Key Dates

Dates for portfolio submission deadlines, workshops and training can be viewed below. You can book onto introductory workshops and writing retreats via the Staff Development Unit webpages.

From 1st September 2015 it will be compulsory that all staff applying for HEA Accreditation (Associate Fellowship (D1), Fellowship (D2), Senior Fellowship (D3)) must do so via the KUDOS scheme.

Introductory Workshops

Introduction to the UKPSF & KUDOS Portfolio Scheme (Mandatory)

These workshops will provide you with all the information that you need in order to apply for fellowship of the HEA.

Booking via Agresso is essential (course catalogue > introduction to the UKPSF & KUDOS portfolio scheme).  Please be aware that rooms may not have pcs so it is advisable to bring/borrow a laptop.

Attendance at an Introduction to the UKPSF & KUDOS Portfolio Scheme workshop is mandatory for all staff applying for HEA Fellow ship (Associate, Fellow or Senior Fellow).

Writing Retreats: for Submission Deadline 29 Jan 2018

 Writing Retreats (D1, D2, D3)

Writing retreats give you time and space to develop your application. Trained KUDOS mentors will be present throughout to guide and advise you. You can stay for as much of the session and attend as many sessions as you need. 

Booking via Agresso is essential (course catalogue > Writing Retreats (D1, D2, D3)).  Please be aware that rooms may not have pcs so it is advisable to bring/borrow a laptop.  The room will be listed on Agresso once confirmed.  You will receive a confirmation email prior to the event.

Principal Fellow Workshop

KUDOS Workshop for Principal Fellow

All the information needed in order to apply for Principal Fellowship of the HEA. Led by Phil Gravestock and Megan Lawton (both Principal Fellows of the HEA).

 Principal Fellowship is for you, if you are typically:

  • responsible for institutional strategic leadership and policymaking in the area of teaching and learning
  • staff who have strategic impact and influence in relation to teaching and learning that extends beyond their own institution

The last workshop was held on 21 April 2017. There are currently no Principal Fellow workshops planned.

Mentor and Reviewer Training

Mentor & Reviewer Training

KUDOS Mentors & Reviewers will be required to undertake an initial 2 day training and then a refresher training the following year, and annually thereafter.  Members of the KUDOS recognition panel will also have to undertake initial training and refresher training.

You must hold HEA Fellowship status to undertake this training.

Staff wishing to attend Mentor & Reviewer training must attend both session 1 and session 2.

There is currently no mentor training


This course is not available to book via Agresso.  Please contact kudos@wlv.ac.uk directly if you are interested in participating in this training and state which 2 dates you want to attend.

Management Committee

 The KUDOS management committee will meet on an annual basis. The last meeting was held 17th October 2016. The 2017 meeting is tbc.
