Help stamp down CO2

Environment and Energy Committee (EEC)

The opportunity to become an Environment and Energy Champion is currently open to all staff. The committee aims to promote and encourage awareness on a range of environmental issues including energy use across the estate. We need to recruit champions from all campuses, faculties and departments to join the committee and assist in promoting sustainability to all of our colleagues.

If you are interested in getting involved please get in touch with the Environment Co-ordinator simon.forth@wlv.ac.uk

About the role

Although it will take the work of everybody to make a real difference, the Environment Team and Energy Champions have key roles in promoting awareness amongst colleagues. Champions functions include:

  • Be a local key contact for energy and environment issues within a particular building, office, workshop etcand provide first line advice to colleagues
  • Posting signs or emails to encourage staff to reduce energy consumption and to promote events
  • Liase with other members of the group and attend meetings as required
  • Participating in promotional events around the environment and sustainability

No specialist knowledge of energy or environmental issues is assumed, but individuals should be willing and interested to take the role and have a strong commitment to the aims of the project.

Appropriate support will be provided by the Environment Team.
