Modifications

There are four processes for modifications:

  1. Amendments to the module via the module guide task (e:Vision)
  2. Module modifications to existing provision
  3. Course Changes
  4. Major change to existing provision

Amendments to the module via the module guide task (e:Vision)

Amendments that can be completed via the module Guide task (e:Vision):

Once a module is validated the module leaders are expected to check and amend (if necessary) the following on an annual basis, via the module Guide task (via e:Vision):

• Reference points

• Learning Activities

• Blended Learning

• All sections relating to Resources

• PSRB details

• Module Content

• Assessment Criteria

• Performance Descriptors

• “As a result of your feedback …” section on responses to student feedback

 

To access the module Guide Task in e:Vision:

-          Log into e:Vision

-          Select Modules and Courses

-          Within the ‘Module Guide’ section select ‘Update Module Guides’

-          Follow the steps and make the necessary amendments to the module guide

 

Module modifications to existing provision

The following can be amended via the module modification task (via e:Vision):

• Module Title

• Prerequisite Modules

• Prohibited Module Combinations

• Contact hours

• Learning Outcomes

• Brief Module Description

• Module Assessments

 

To access the Module Modification task in e:Vision

-          Log into e:Vision

-          Hover mouse over ‘Modules and Courses’ and select ‘Module Modification’

-          Within the ‘Module Modification Process’ section select ‘Propose Module Modification’.

The follow the steps within the task and make the necessary amendments to the module specification.

-          Please notify your QCU Officer of the modifications proposed.

-          The FAEC panel or UQP will review the modification and provide feedback to the modification proposed.

 

Where a modification is submitted via e:Vision, the following information must be provided (to be included within the ‘Rationale’ text box):

1) A rationale for the proposed changes

2) Confirmation that the External Examiner has had the opportunity to comment on the proposed changes. If a collaborative partner is involved in the delivery of the module, please confirm that they have been consulted on the modification proposed.

3) Confirmation that any affected faculties have been consulted (for cross- faculty courses /modules)

Course Changes

Where small scale changes are made to a course (see modifications handbook for definition), a course change template (Word doc 32k)must be completed, which outlines the changes proposed.  EE approval must be included within this document.  Once the course change template has been completed, please forward on documentation to your QCU Officer.  Your QCU Officer will advise on any additional documentation required and the next steps in the process.  The FAEC panel or UQP will review the modification and provide feedback to the modification proposed.

Major change to existing provision

Major Change

Where significant changes are being proposed to a course, a Major Change Proposal (Word doc 35k) must be completed (submit proposal electronically to QCU Officer, who in turn will forward onto Head of Quality and Collaboration Unit), for consideration and approval.  Your QCU Officer will advise on any additional documentation required adn the next steps in the process.  The FAEC panel or UQP will review the modification and provide feedback to the modification proposed.

Please note that FAEC or UQP members approve modification proposals dependent upon the associated level of risk.
