Kathy Gee was appointed Deputy Chair of the Board of Governors in November 2009.
An archaeologist by training, Kathy has had a long career in museums and heritage. She was first employed as a curator by English China Clays Plc., then went freelance as a Museum Consultant. After five years working in the independent museum sector, writing and publishing, and researching landscape history for the National Trust, in 1990 she became CEO of the West Midlands Regional Museums Council (latterly the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council West Midlands) before leaving to work freelance again in 2006. She is a qualified leadership coach and a published poet.
Kathy has been extensively involved in the development of heritage thinking and policy development at national level, serving on numerous committees and publishing widely. She was a Trustee of the Heritage Lottery Fund and is currently a Trustee of both the Avoncroft Museum of Buildings and the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.
