Welcome to the Institute for Learning Enhancement (ILE)

ILE is responsible for supporting the development of student learning, curriculum design, blended, flexible and distance learning; it also supports research capacity building as described below.

Information and Resources

We run a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice and a variety of workshops in Blended Learning and other areas of teaching. We also provide postgraduate training, doctoral supervision training and support for the Early Researcher Award Scheme and have a number of externally funded research and development projects. Click on the menu to the left to access information and resources in all these areas.

Latest ILE updates: 

• New Researchers' Conference 2013, Wednesday 12^th June.
  This conference will combine presentations from the Early Researchers Award Scheme as well as the Research Student Poster Exhibition & Competition.  
• Rich Exchanges 2013: Every Student Matters, 3 July 2013
• Call for Papers: submission date 31^st May 2013. Rich Exchanges is the annual Learning and Teaching Conference of the University of Wolverhampton.
• Graduate Futures Conference 2013: Facilitating Experiences that lead to Graduate Employment, Wednesday 26th June.
  Booking is now open please visit the Graduate Futures website and book your place.
• HEA Thematic Workshop, Wednesday 17^th July, 10.00am – 16.00pm.
  The theme of the workshop is Employability: From pockets of good practice to University-wide dissemination and excellence.

Updates on the BLU Blog

• Good Academic Practice workshop
  This workshop was created with the purpose of encouraging students to think about the concept of academic integrity and good academic practice as it applies to their writing.
• More engaging students with Turnitin
  Deborah Orpin, Course Leader, English Language in LSSC, ran a session on Turnitin which challenged and engaged her students.
• Supporting staff supporting students
  BLU have launched a guidance topic for students which is now available for staff to access.

Staff Support

We offer workshops, one-to-one and team support, as well as a programme in academic practice for colleagues new to university teaching - PG Cert in Academic Practice in H.E.

Postgraduate Programmes

We also support programmes for Postgraduate Research Students, the Research Supervisor Development Programme and Early Researcher Awards Scheme (ERAS).
