There is no formal dress code.
Your interview will last approximately 20-30 minutes and will normally be undertaken by two Academic Tutors. Interviewers will be interested in your approach to your work, your awareness and understanding of design, your appreciation of the specialist subject for which you are applying, your enthusiasms and interests, influences and experiences. The interview will conclude with the opportunity for you to ask questions. Interviews will be conducted between 2-4pm.
Parents are welcome to have tea and coffee in the social space (on the Ground floor) while they wait.
Some subjects may incorporate a group discussion/presentation prior to the interview itself. Many new applicants have the same queries and questions which are hopefully dealt with without repetition.
We also incorporate an Introduction to the School, Subject Tours and a Finance presentation. You will also have the chance to visit our halls of residence (Accommodation Unit).
It is requested that you leave the whole day free. Most of our applicants apply for two or more subjects and therefore may require two or more interviews, which will be arranged for the same day, wherever possible.
If you have previously attended an Open day and have already experienced the tours mentioned above then please aim to arrive at 1.45pm. On arrival please report to the Reception.
Please contact the School of Art and Design in order to give further information of this option or alternatively log a help desk call through your E-vision page.
If you do have any special requirements or times to adhere to please ensure you notify staff at the reception desk upon arrival.
Whilst tours are being undertaken Portfolios can be left at Reception.
Please aim to arrive at the School for 12.30pm.
Please allow sufficient time to park or to walk from the bus station (allow 15mins) or the train station (10mins).
