Professor Martin Chambers

Professor Martin Chambers was appointed to the board of Governors in November 2010, and is a member of the Finance & General Purposes Committee.

Martin has over 30 years experience in the construction industry. He has been responsible for the delivery of a number of landmark projects across the UK, including the national £1bn MoD Project SLAM Programme, Millennium Point and the redevelopment of Birmingham's New Street Station.

Martin is a past President of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). He originally qualified as a chartered surveyor before becoming a Chartered Builder (by day release). Martin has since become a Certificated Project Manager and most recently, a Chartered Environmentalist.

Martin is a director of Shaylor Group PLC. During his career Martin has worked for some of the world's greatest companies, including George Wimpey, Mace, Lend Lease and Network Rail.

He is well known as a determined advocate in the areas of Sustainability and Smart Procurement. Martin is also a visiting Professor at the University of Westminster.
