Prof. Qasim Mehdi - Computer Games and Interactive Digital Media

kas mehdiProf. Qasim Mehdi is the Director of the Computer Games and Multimedia Technology research laboratory.

His research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Computer Simulation and Modelling, Microprocessors and Microsystems, Graphics and Visualisation, and Interactive Digital Applications.

Expertise

  • First developer to implement Artificial Intelligent Techniques into Microprocessor Systems.
  • Creator of the first Intelligent Multimeida Application for the interactive production of model to achieve high precision of machine tools.

Research

  • He is Chief Editor of the first International Journal on Intelligent Games and Simulation (IJIGS). Professor Mehdi is a co-founder and member of a steering committee which links together digital media developers, education, and the entertainments industry under FP6 European framework which includes twelve European countries with 220 expert partners.
  • He is also a partner of the Canadian research project SAGE project and has initiated a Network of Excellence (NoE) under FP6 framework in computer games. He has successfully supervised more than 10 PhD researchers.
  • He has been an invited speaker on Intelligent Games and Computer Simulation & Modelling at home and abroad. He has published more than 130 papers in international conferences and journals and edited 16 conference proceedings and 6 volumes of international journals in computer games.

Professional

  • Prof. Mehdi is the founder and the general conference chair of the annual Game-On Conference (known as CGAMES) on Intelligent Games and Simulation, and International Conference on Computer Games: Artificial Intelligence, Design and Education (CGAIDE), which was sponsored by Microsoft, UK.
  • Furthermore, his work has gained an excellent international reputation and recognition where he has served as a keynote speaker for IMAGINA international festival for digital image, ESM International Conference, peer reviewer for IEEE Transaction and Kentucky Science and Engineering Foundation, USA.
