The Centre for Developmental and Applied Research (CeDARE) brings together researchers and academics from across the School for Education Futures (SEF) and the university as a whole. The centre has a developing reputation with central and local government, schools, a range of agencies, community organisations and practitioners for high quality research.
The centre was established to build research capacity and integrate this increase with a wider range of services targeted at local and national users of educational research.
CeDARE brings together teams of staff providing research, continuing professional development programmes, partnership and international work with a dedicated educational development team that exploit research outputs and maximise their impact by creating a range of knowledge and practice transfer opportunities, by providing bespoke consultancy and evaluation services and through establishing strategic research relationships with local and national organisations.

At CeDARE we combine the professional experience of staff from across the university with the knowledge and expertise of highly experienced researchers in order to develop innovative methodologies and produce research outputs that impact on policy and practice. We believe heavily in supporting the professional development of our staff and students and run a number of research clusters within the School for Education Futures.
Our work covers all areas of education and wider social issues concerning schools and communities.
We have collated some impact case studies in the following areas to demonstrate what we do and the impact our work is having:
Through the use of well-designed research materials and reports, social networking and blogging, the creation of video resources and websites for our projects, as well as our bi-monthly newsletter, CeDARE engages a community of educational practitioners, both local and national, as well as teacher educators, professional development providers and central and local government policy makers across all levels of education.
CeDARE offers education development services such as action research seminars through the Expansive Education Network and CPD appraisals and services through a SKEIN partnership. Our CeDARE-Reports website containing project reports and resources has received several thousand visitors and the resources are watched and downloaded regularly.
