Staff Success and Excellence:

  • A large number of staff have seen recent success in both the Student Union Awards, as well the Vice-Chancellor's Awards for Staff Excellence in 2011 and 2012.
  • Numerous members of teaching staff have won top awards - for example, between 2005 and 2009 five staff were awarded National Teaching Fellowships. The University also won two Lord Stafford Awards in 2007, recognising its excellence in innovative work with businesses.
  • In May 2008 the University was awarded an unprecedented seven Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs), securing its top position in the West Midlands. Then in September 2009, the University was awarded £24.3 million for knowledge transfer, bringing it to 2nd place nationally for the number of KTPs it runs.
