LGBT History Month - February 2013

The University of Wolverhampton's Equality and Diversity Unit, LGBT Staff Network, LGBT+ Society are hosting two events as part of LGBT History Month:

Women in Research lecture - Thursday 7 March 2013

Researching BME health in the UK – ‘Standing on the shoulders of Giants’. A public lecture to celebrate International Women’s Week by Professor Laura Serrant-Green, Professor of Community and Public Health Nursing. Open to all staff and postgraduate students.

Participation and Progress within Higher Education

The 7th Biennial Higher Education and Equality Conference.

This animated and thought provoking conference explored themes relating to staff and student participation and progress.

Topics throughout the day included:

  • Welcome and introduction – Professor Caroline Gipps, Vice-Chancellor.
  • Student attainment – Dr Glynis Cousin. A presentation of research highlighting Equality and Diversity in the Curriculum and the student voice.
  • Staff progression – Dr Debra Cureton. This talk considers the progression of BME and disabled staff, and issues of proportional representation within the University’s Staff Mentoring Scheme.
  • Women in research – Dr Ginny Fisher. Why women aren’t equally represented in research careers?
