About Dr Andrew Conio

Andrew’s theoretical research orientates around the interpretation and development of the ideas of Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari in a range of contexts from Philosophy to Aesthetics, from Architecture to Psychoanalysis. He also maintains a creative practice based upon artist video filmmaking and scriptwriting. This includes videos that investigate subjectivity, video installations and hypnotism CDs.

Andrew’s 2005 film (co-directed with Judy Price) Refining Memory was shown at the Whitechapel Gallery, Curzon Soho and London's City Hall. It was selected as a critics' choice by London's Time Out magazine and described as 'Reflective, compassionate and creatively invigorating'. Andrew undertook a Teaching Fellowship at the International Art Academy in Palestine in 2010. His PhD was awarded in 2010 by the University of Surrey supervised by Jennet Thomas, Prof. Claire Colebrook and Dave Beech.
