The Blended Learning Unit are a small team of high-achieving learning technologists, all qualified teachers, who have experience and expertise in the design of blended learning, online learning and distance learning courses, modules and learning activities.
Their work has a national reputation (e.g. UCISA good practice guide), was crucial to the University achieving worldwide recognition as a global leader for its impactful use of technology - IMS Global Platinum Award in 2010 and have been key to the University’s many income-generating JISC projects e.g., An e-Portfolio based Pedagogy for SMEs (ePPSME).
The Blended Learning Unit and its expertise are integral to enabling the University to attain key outcomes articulated in the Strategic Plan (2012 -2017), and more specifically to realising objectives stated throughout each of the sub-strategies, and each of the enabling strategies - have a look at the strategic priorities page for more information.
The Blended Learning blog, Learning and Teaching with Technology, is now available and regularly updated. The team were one of three shortlisted for the Vice-Chancellors's Awards for Staff Excellence 2012 in the category 'Excellence in Customer Service'.
