Legal research at the University is headed up by the Centre for Research in law in collaboration with the Central Institute for the Study of Public Protection, both sitting within our Law, Social Sciences and Communications academic school.

Centre for Research in Law

The Centre for Research in Law provides a focal point for legal research involving different research specialisms and diverse doctrinal, comparative, interdisciplinary and socio-legal methodologies.

The Centre brings together legal researchers working in two broad areas:

  • Corporate and financial law
  • Criminal justice and human rights

Central Institute for the Study of Public Protection (CISPP)

The Central Institute for the Study of Public Protection aims to develop and promote the University's increasing activity across the fields of:

  • criminal justice;
  • criminology;
  • forensic science;
  • policing;
  • fire and rescue;
  • safeguarding;
  • armed forces;
  • security;
  • terrorism; and,
  • consumer protection.
