Research applications procedure

You can apply to study a research degree by an expression of interest or applying for a studentship.

  • Expression of interest: If you are a prospective research student and would like to receive more information about undertaking a research programme at the University of Wolverhampton, please complete an expression of interest form (Word - 160k - opens in a new window).
  • Apply for a studentship: Follow the procedure as indicated when research departments advertise for studentships.

Step-by-step instructions

Please note that this advice ONLY applies to people who have contacted us about their research interests, and have been invited to apply.

  • Contact the relevant research department to discuss your interests
  • They will advise you on your options and, where necessary, ask you to complete an expression of interest form (Word doc - 137k - opens in a new window). This should go to the relevant research department
  • Once this has been approved, you will be asked to fill out a research proposal form (Word doc - 230k - opens in a new window). See also the guidelines for completion of research proposal form (Word doc - 88k - opens in a new window)
  • If approved, you will then be informed of when you will start your research with us.

This application process does NOT apply to people applying for advertised studentships - you will be advised of the required process when such vacancies are advertised. Note that unsolicited expressions of interest may not be successful.
