Kate Copestake is Director and founder of both Copestake Ltd, a business media communications company founded in 2004 and based in Wolverhampton. She is also the founder and Director of Synthetic Dimensions Ltd, the Digitial Animation and 3D computer graphics specialists formed in 1985 in Solihull, relocating to Wolverhampton in 1990.
After international success in the computer games sector, the company gained awards including the Small Business of the Year Award 1998, the Excellence in Animation Award 1998 and achieved the Investors in People Award in 2000. Clients included US telecomms company GTE, Michael Flatley, rock icons Iron Maiden, Disney Pixar, Reebok, Reugeot and One2One, amongst others. Her late life partner and co-Director of Synthetic, Kevin Bulmer, was awarded an honorary degree by the University in 2009.
As Chairman of Synthetic Dimensions PLC Kate prepared Synthetic for its OFEX and subsequent AIM flotation, in 2000 and 2001 respectively, by creating a successful five year PR campaign. The company achieved a valuation of £12.6 million.
Kate has experience in partnership working and was Chairman of St John's Urban Village, a £60m+ regeneration scheme in Wolverhampton, for four years from 2000-2004. She was Vice President of the Wolverhampton division of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce from 2009 to 2010 and was a 288 Director of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce 2008 to 2009. She edited Prosper magazine, the official bi-monthly publication of the Chamber, for two years.
Kate serves on the Board of Governors of the University of Wolverhampton where she is part of the Audit Committee and Creative Industries cluster group. She also chairs the University's Positioning and Marketing Committee.
With over twenty years experience in writing for business prospectuses, seminar presentations, marketing, PR, corporate literature, voiceovers, websites, company handbooks, newspapers, magazines and scriptwriting, Copestake Ltd offers a complete public relations, copywriting and business advice service to all kinds of businesses; creative, technical and manufacturing, from a press release to a complete written prospectus for a stock market flotation. She is a regular writer for local media and newspapers. Clients have included Medical Devices Technologies International (Wolverhampton), the Black Country Reinvestment Society (Wolverhampton), Black Country Chamber of Commerce, Department for Children, Schools and Families and Wednesfield High School.
Kate initially trained as a three dimensional designer for the manufacturing sector. She writes features for various publications, local and international. Kate is a member of the Birmingham Press Club, The National Trust and The Woodland Trust. She lives and works in Wolverhampton. Kate holds a BA in 3D Design and Art History from the University and a postgraduate certificate from the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design.
