Uni to celebrate Vaisakhi
A special event will be held at the University of Wolverhampton to celebrate Vaisakhi.
The Vaisakhi Show and Exhibition 2008 is a celebration of Sikh faith and culture. It is the second year that the University has hosted such an event.
There will be opening ceremony, free food and various talks. Other activities include a turban tying workshop, classical instruments workshop and a Sikh Gurdwara awareness trip.
The event will take place in the Central Quad and MC Building at the Wolverhampton City Campus on Wednesday, 16 April 2008, from 1pm to 4pm.
It has been organised by Jas Singh, from the
School of Computing and Information Technology
.
He said: “We look forward to welcoming everyone to this celebration, which promises to be a great event for our students and the community. Vaisakhi is a key event of the University’s internationalisation strategy, which promotes an understanding and awareness of international culture amongst staff and students.”
The University of Wolverhampton is also one of the key partners in the Wolverhampton-India Project initiative, which focuses on three areas - education, trade and sport/culture.
