ERASMUS policy statement

The University of Wolverhampton sets out the following Institutional Strategy for ERASMUS.

The University of Wolverhampton has incorporated moves towards greater internationalisation into its Strategic Plan and acknowledges the changing landscape of European Higher Education.

Consequently it recognises the increased importance of international intellectual activity and that a broad network of links with foreign institutions is essential to sustain scholarly exchange, research, curriculum currency and opportunities for student mobility.

The University is currently addressing the issue of reciprocity in student exchanges, focussing on the benefits of exchange placements and has a University wide-languages programme, accessible to the majority of students, to encourage confidence in taking part in mobility programmes.

The University has accepted the principles of the Bologna Declaration and is working towards ensuring that all staff are provided with detailed information and an analysis of the changes expected within the European Higher Education system.

The University will increase the profile given to ERASMUS activities in line with its internationalisation strategy. The ERASMUS University Charter and the EPS will be available via a link from the university’s web page, and a summary of the statement will be included in the publicity material and handed out to prospective students at Open Days and to new students on arrival. Links to the Charter from external sites – eg UCAS will also be investigated.

The University will increase the frequency and profile of events designed to publicise the ERASMUS scheme to its current students and continue to ensure that staff are also aware of the staff mobility schemes. Academic staff will also be encouraged be to more flexible in accepting programmes of study from partner institutions, within the parameters of professional and academic regulations.

The University of Wolverhampton is committed to a comprehensive equal opportunities policy for both its staff and students. Individuals are selected and treated on the basis of appropriate merits and abilities and are given equal opportunities within the University.
